Stash Busting Part 1- The Great Purge
Hey everyone! Welcome to the first post in my stash busting series! The goal of this series is to help you, and myself of course, use the supplies that are in your stash. So today I am talking all about purging things that you have been hanging onto but to be honest will most likely never use. Let's get started! The two main areas that I sorted through was my paper and stickers. Regardless of what I am purging there are a series of questions I ask myself when deciding what to keep and what to get rid of:
- Why haven't I used it?- Many of the items I got rid of this time around were YEARS and YEARS old and I had purchase when I first started scrapbooking. Since then scrapbooking styles and trends have changed and so has my own personal tastes. I will admit many of the paper pads I bought because I was a part of a scrapbooking group and the admin of the group used this specific paper line all the time. I felt like if she had something I had to have it too. So in the box it went.
- Do I have a plan for it?- While I do like to try out a bunch of different crafts there are a few main things that I make regularily: Project Life albums, Travelers Notebook inserts, and planners. As I went through my sticker books if I couldn't see myself using them in these 3 areas in the box they went. If I don't have a plan for them now I most likely have one later. Sometimes if I am undicided about something I will pull it out and put it on my desk in an effort to use it. If it sits on my desk for more than a week and I haven't used it, then I feel it's pretty safe to say I'm just not going to use it.
So now that we've gone through and pulled supplies we no longer need what do we do with them? I usually try to sell it in a garage sale or on a Facebook sell site to try and get a little bit back from what I spent. After that I will donate it to a school or a thrift store or put together RAKs to giveaway.
By going through and purging my stash I feel less overwhelmed with the amount of stuff I have to choose from and I don't feel bad from having supplies in my stash that just sit and sit. So what do you think? Are you ready to bust through your stash along with me?!
