Meet Isaiah
I am so excited to introduce you all to the newest member of our family Isaiah.
| Isaiah @ 2 months Feb. 14th, 2017 |
He has been such an amazing addition to our ever growing family. He was born on December 14th, 2016 tipping the scales at 7 lbs. 4 oz. You know how people say babies are a labor of love? Well Isaiah certainly was! We went to the hospital the evening of the 13th and while I was having steady contractions I wasn't making much progress in my labor despite walking that OB floor for hours and anything else we could think of to pick things up a bit. Thankfully I had the most amazing OB and she let me stay at the hospital and gave me some pain medication to help me relax and get some sleep and hopefully things would pick up in the morning. When the nurse came to check on me in the morning I was still in about the same place in my labor so a call was put into my OB and she came to break my water. Again contractions picked up in intensity coming close together but not enough to help me dilate further. Next on deck: the ever so lovely PITOCIN! Now let me rewind just a bit. When I was in labor with Olivia I got to the hospital too late to have an epidural but let me be the first to say while her labor and delivery were painful, as to be expected, I was incredibly surprised at how well I managed through it. So when it came to Isaiah there was really no doubt in my mind that I wanted a natural birth this time around. I thought hey if I did it once surly I can do it again and so far I was handling it well. I was able to get out of bed walk around and using various calming techniques to help manage the 'pain' of the contractions. Now being a soon to be mommy of 3 I knew that Pitocin would increase the intensity of my contractions but somehow that little factoid slipped my mind that morning and I thought nothing of it. Let me tell you friends, the kind of pain that Pitocin causes I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I went from 6 cm dilated to pushing in about 20 minutes and pushing through those contractions was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in fact my OB had to give me a little pep talk because I was not handling it well. Thankfully I didn't have to go through that long and Isaiah had finally arrived.
Since bringing him home from the hospital the following day we have all adjusted to being a family of 5 quite well. Braiden and Olivia are filled with so much love for their little brother. Every morning when Braiden wakes up he heads right to Isaiah and tells him good morning and showers him with hugs and kisses. Olivia is such a great helper. She is the first one to grab a diaper and a wipe at the mere mention of a diaper change. She is going to make an amazing mommy herself one day. As for me, I fully acknowledge that Isaiah truly has us spoiled. What I am going to say next please know that I am in no way bragging in fact I'm still in shock at how much of an 'easy' baby he is. From the time he came home he put himself on his own schedule eating every 2 hours like clockwork, going to be the same time every night around the same time the big kids do, and wait for it...sleeping through the night (10-12 hours) at just 6 weeks. When he is awake he is very content just to hang out with us. Only a few things have been difficult to adjust to. Homeschooling Olivia has been difficult because Isaiah doesn't nap the greatest in the mornings so we are interrupted often. Also keeping a toddler and a preschooler quiet during his nap times has presented a challenge but thankfully he is usually able to sleep through the noise.
I have started working on his baby album. I just need to send some pictures off to print. I think by the end of the month I will have enough to send out and hopefully I will be able to share some progress updates as I complete each month.
Thanks for stopping by again. I hope to keep up blogging with a couple posts a week so check back to see how little Isaiah is growing and for more scrappy posts to come soon!
